A B O U T
The primary logo was designed with specific proportions that communicate the value of balance. It expresses the idea of both levity and weight, light and shadow.
The resemblance to an ‘A’ represents the brand's commitment to artists. The arc indicates AWWB’s desire to be a doorway, an entry, and a home for artists, their lives, and their work.

CORE CONCEPT
This concept focuses on an old-style yet transitional typeface, textures, and patterns, while using shape and form as a means to communicate the exceptional feel of the brand. Texture and low contrast balance the presence of geometric shapes and lines.
TYPEFACE
The typography of this concept is a nod to the titled text, Black Women Writers at Work, a low-contrast text with a historical flavor.
COLORS
The tone of baked terra cotta is synonymous with the natural yet rich nature of the brand and creates a great contrast to the charcoal and off-white.

IMAGERY
To balance the geometry of lines and shapes and the flair of the dominant type, organic textures allow us to peer through the solid colors and create a bit of warmth.
SHAPES + CREATIVE DEVICES
Imagery for this direction for individuals featured are low-contrast, tightly cropped, and textured portraits. Products and art featured also share texture and detail.
